| The great Sphinx of Giza was built in about 2530 BC by Khafre (the 4th king of the 4th Dynasty). | ||

| The Sphinx's face was badly damaged during the French occupation around 1800 when the Mameluke troops used it for target practive with their field cannons and its body has been badly weather by the elements for thousands of years. | ||
