| Arch | When a cave is eroded through to the other side. |
| Backwash | The wave going down a beach. |
| Bar | A spit that connects two headlands |
| Bay | Soft rock eroded back. |
| Beach | Usually found in bays where the waves are constructive. |
| Beach replenishment | Adding sand to a beach. |
| Blowhole | A cave eroded upwards by hydraulic action leaving a hole. |
| Cave | A rounded hole in a headland caused by sea erosion. |
| Constructive waves | Build up beaches. |
| Destructive waves | Remove material from the beach. |
| Fetch | The distance of water the wind blows over. |
| Fjord | A u-shaped glacial valley flooded by the sea. |
| Groyne | A man made wall to stop longshore drift. |
| Headland | Hard rock sticking out into the sea like a finger. |
| Lagoon | The water trapped between the coast and a bar. |
| Longshore drift | The movement of material horizontally along a beach. |
| Raised Beach | An old beach which is above the current sea level due to a drop in sea level. |
| Rias | The end of a river valley flooded by a sea. |
| Rock armour | A large barrier of rocks to reduce impact of waves. |
| Rock barrier | Built out in the sea to make the waves break earlier. |
| Sea wall | An artificial sea defence. |
| Slumping | When a cliff falls down. |
| Spit | Long ridges of sand sticking out into the sea. They are the result of longshore drift. |
| Stack | Left behind when a roof of an arch collapses. |
| Stump | An eroded stack. |
| Swash | The wave going up a beach. |
| Tombolos | A spit joining a mainland with an island. |
| Wave-cut notch | The shape left at the bottom of the cliff due to erosion by the sea. |
| Wave-cut platform | The platform left behind by the erosion of a cliff. |
