The male sings to atract a female to his pond. A female goes, lays her eggs and leaves instantly. The male fertilizes the eggs and stays to look after them. When the tadpoles hatch they have no food. The male ignores them and calls for another female. The new female arrives, lays the eggs and leaves but the male doesn't fertilize them, he gives the eggs to his tadpoles to eat.

El macho emite un canto para atraer a una hembra a su estanque. Una hembra acude pone los huevos y se marcha instantáneamente. El macho los fecunda y se queda a cuidarlos. Cuando nacen los renacuajos no tienen nada para comer. El macho en vez de atenderlos se dedica a llamar a otra hembra. La nueva hembra llega pone los huevos y se marcha pero el macho no los fecunda sino que los entrega como alimento a sus hijos.
