The National Gallery
located on the north side of Trafalgar Square. It houses Western
European paintings from 1250 to 1900 from the national art
collection of Great Britain. The collection of 2,300 paintings belongs to the British public and entry to the main collection is free. The present building on Trafalgar Square is the third to house the National Gallery. The façade is by William Wilkins and is the only part of his original building of 1832 that remains unchanged. |
La National Gallery
localizada en la zona norte de Trafalgar Square. Tiene una colección
de cuadros del Oeste Europeo de 1250 a 1900 de la colección de arte
nacional del Reino Unido. La colección de 2.300 cuadros pertenece al pueblo Británico por lo tanto la entrada al museo es gratuita. El edificio actual en Trafalgar Square es el tercer edificio que alberga el National Gallery. La fachada realizada por William Wilkins es la unica parte del edificio principal de 1832 que permanece inalterado. |
