  The Republic of Iceland is a country located in the north of Europe, comprising the island of Iceland and its outlying islets.

It has a population of about 313,000 inhabitants and an area of 103,000 kmē.

The capital is Reykjavik.

Iceland as you can see in the photo gallery is volcanically and geologically active on a very large scale.

The interior consists of a plateau with sand fields, mountains and glaciers, we can see many glacial rivers which flow to the sea.
