| The Moon's Phases |
| Sunlight makes the side of the Moon facing the Sun shine. On this part of the Moon it is daytime. The other half is in darkness and here it is night. As the Moon travels around the Earth, we see different amounts of its sunlit half. Night by night, the shape of the moon seems to change from a thin crescent to a complete disc and back again. The shape of the moon is called its phase. |
